Hi guys,
I'm happily wonderfully exhausted to report some grrrrreat news (think Tony the Tiger from Frosted Flakes deliciousness)
This week, we shot my very first MUSIC VIDEO!!!
There were 30 girls in it...which was crazy and amazing!
Brief recaps...we shot on Tuesday in South Street Seaport, in New York City, down down town, baby, by the water, for the 1st scene of "Waste My Breath". Here, I catch my dirty cheating lover, a handsome young lad named Charlie, with the other woman, and I work myself up into a smouldering, fiery rage when I confront him.
On Wednesday, we shot in Soho in NYC, on Prince and Greene street, where my sexy red high-heeled shoes got caught in between cobblestone during filming a take, and I took a slow-mo "ohmygod she's going down for the count" fall, during a take as I walked backwards quickly! (No wonder my mother wanted to eagerly sign me up for ballet). But otherwise, there were 30 wonderful, beautiful girls, who were filmed lip-synching the lyrics of the song...damn they were good!
We filmed EVERYTHING...including a gang of junior high school kids mobbing me during filming to get my autographs, even though they honestly had no idea who I was. It was pretty hilarious, as I was signing their ripped looseleaf paper school binders.
Anyhow, I think Arnaud, the director, said the video will be premiering in December, 2008 on a big screen in New York...and I will post it on myspace and youtube the day it premieres!

Ghost Songs, Rolling Stone Magazine and NYC cheap fruit stands
Hi lovelies,
Missed you all so much. I’ve been sitting here in NYC, eating lots of cheap and 97% ripened fruit from all the street fruit stands…pineapples are $3, mangoes, strawberries, bruised nectarines…I feel like I’ve become a female version of my grandfather who’s 92, lives with my uncle in Sherman Oaks, California, and is still obsessed with picking out a perfect piece of fruit at the supermarket. And he’ll tell you every detail from plucking out the top leaf stem of a pineapple, to smelling the bottom end of a honeydew. That actually sounds perverted- but I embrace my inner pervert (just kidding, loves)!
Ok, lots happening here…I’m in the process of writing about 8 new songs- one of them I’m particularly excited about. A wonderful poet friend of mine, Mark Fogarty, was telling me about a supernatural dream he had this week, and he mentioned he was “Shaking Off The Ghosts.” He described the ghosts as more sinister spirits, that he felt were still in the room when he woke up- and I was really moved/shocked/connected/intrigued by that phrase…it’s very powerful.
So immediately that night (it was actually this past Sunday), I got myself worked up in a semi-trance, though I didn’t light candles as it’s too hot in the summer. Plus I’m trying to cut down my AC bill. But anyways- I got myself in an altered state, ran to the piano, and let chords, lyrics, melodies and song spirits fly around. I changed “Shaking Off The Ghosts” to “Shaking Off Your Ghost” and I think I have seeds planted to what could be a really good song…I can’t wait for you all to hear it.
Does anyone have any good ghost, witch or supernatural stories? I’m always intrigued, as I’ve had some spirit encounters, some of which have been on the scarier side…
Oh, and EXCITING NEWS!!!!! I hope this doesn’t sound too braggy or anything, I’m just honestly excited! But today, I got a really big Press quote from one of the most respected rock journalists at ROLLING STONE and the NY TIMES! (I don’t have any fancy pr person- so I’m always a little bit shocked when I get quotes all by me lonesome self!) The wonderful Anthony DeCurtis, has kindly given me a quote…and I’m incredibly excited about it….let me please share it with you all!

Most songwriters are lucky to discover their voice, but Sheri Miller has a variety to choose from. She manages to find the edge in even the most conventional emotions -- the flutter of desperation within devotion, the tug of self-doubt within conviction. Her singing conveys those subtleties and hints at deeper ones, all while never compromising the alluring surfaces of her songs. She makes a powerful first impression, and then, even better, a series of more complex and lasting ones.

Funny, I had emailed him in Feb. and hadn’t heard back in 4 months- and then 2 nights ago I saw him do an interview on PBS ch. 13 about Sting and the final Police Renunion Tour on TV. And I thought to myself, “oh let it go…you didn’t hear back from him, that’s ok, just focus on writing more songs for the next record…make music! Making music is the most important thing to do! Let it go!”
And when I “let go” of him, of course 2 days later, he emails me! That’s how the universe works sometimes, I think. Sometimes we need to let go of things we want so much to happen, to control, and when we let go we actually create space for those things to actually happen! So detaching is actually true! Trust, focus on your art, work, life, and detach from the result. High Hopes, Low Expectations!
But I’m still excited and very honored to have Mr. DeCurtis write something so kind. I feel quite lucky.
Xoxoxo
Love you all!!!
Amour y besos!!!

I'm Addicted to Extreme Strength Crack Coffee! and a Songwriting Confession...
Hi there!
My blog virginity here on Google is being broken...I'm typing my very first blog here...make way for madness!!!
Ok, first thing's first...if you're not a coffee drinker, don't start now!
Coffee has become the new cigarettes, the new oral fixation, I believe. I'm an artistic spirit (I'm a triple Pisces) and feel kindred to underdog coffeeshops that have small clientele and bohemian artists sipping latte- none of the large corporate conglomerates...but my first confession here is that I am a Starbucks drinker.
Yes, I flatline in the mornings (no sign of brainwaves or upper cortex movement) until I have my Starbucks fix- which by the way I'm pretty sure is laced with a form of crack in the caffeine. Diner coffee I could bathe with- it does NOTHING for me. It's water turned brown. I'm thinking it's time to switch to green tea again, and ween off this great coffee addiction. Words of advice anyone?
Now back to my other addiction- SONGWRITING. So, for all you amazingly awesome folks out there who have been asking about new songs- and when the next album is coming out...here's the latest. I'm working on about 15 songs now. Not kidding. I have a bit of mania (no coincidence I've loved "MANIC DESPRESSION" by the great Hendrix since I was a young whippersnapper).
So, I have tapes and tapes from the last few months (yes- I'm old school- I record all my ideas on a ghetto Sony tape cassette recorder that honestly may break any minute) of material...of snippets of melodies, lyrics, verses, choruses...but btw, I'm not the only one who writes this way.
I was very, very lucky to be able to write with an incredible and legendary songwriter, J.D. Souther (he was considered, I believe, the honorary 5th member of The Eagles- he wrote classics like "Peaceful Easy Feeling") recently in Nashville, in J.D.'s mansion/wooden lodge. Filled with Penguin chatchkas and totems, btw. Anyway, J.D. kept a large 20-lb looking tape cassette recorder right on his piano, he didn't seem (unless I didn't see it somehow) to have $20,000 worth of crazy studio gear that you always see in documentary footage. So it's good to know that even some of the greatest writers still use their ancient tools to create- I'm not alone in my cassette usage!
So much more to write- will post another puppy soon!
Love you all ad infinitum (Steve Jobs- please create an infinity sign on the Apple Powerbook keyboard soon!)
xoxoxo love
